Hydroporus palustris?
Probably the
palustris species, which is very common in Holland, the colours of the
wingcases and head are typical of that species. The species has hairs on the wingcases, like this
specimen. The size is 3.3 millimeters and that is also correct. However, for a certain determination
Hydroporus species have to be dissected. The picture at left shows another specimen with
about the same color pattern and yet looking somewhat different. Click on the picture to see some
