Just like many other Coelambus species this is a pioneer, and thus I found him in a new, shallow pond with water that was well heated by the summer sun. The stripes are not well visible without enlargement. The specification nigrolineatus is not very specific: all Coelambus species have black lines...
This species is not very common (in Holland) and I still have my doubts: could this be the more
common impressopunctatus? But then the size is too small. Besides, the wingcases have the
punctuation typical of nigrolineatus: large pits in loose lines, between smaller pits that are
random spread. The species seems to appear in abundance in new pools. )¹
A month later there was more vegetation the the pond, I didn't see the beetles anymore.
